Molokai offers visitors a wide range of attractions and activities. many tourists come to explore the Kalaupapa peninsula (see right), but there is much more to see on this island. Halawa Valley makes a good day trip for some hiking and a picnic. The high winds on Molokai's west end make for some excellent kite flying. There are some fabulous, relatively deserted beaches including the longest beach in Hawaii.	In ancient Hawaii, Molokai was known for its excellent kahunas , which kept invasion at bay for some time. In more recent history, Molokai is known for its leper colong on the Kalaupapa Peninsula. Tourists can head down the world's highest sea cliffs by mule to explore the settlement. The least expensive way to reach Molokai is by boat. The Molokai Princess runs a ferry across to Maui twice a day. The ferry offers the bonus of traveling with locals and outstanding scenery. The afternoon boat rolls in a sunset cruise. Hawaiian Air and Island Air offer scheduled air service to Molokai from Maui and Oahu. There are also several companies that charter puddle jumper planes to the island.
